It was during his formative years at CPU that Hablo’s innate artistic flair began to surface. He immersed himself in creative endeavors that laid the groundwork for his future pursuits. This strong foundation would later become the bedrock of his artistic brilliance.

Graduating from CPU with a degree in AB Political Science in 1991, Hablo decided to pursue his true passion – the world of art. His artistic journey began with resounding success as a finalist in the Shell National Students Art Competition in 1991, signaling the dawn of a prodigious artistic career.

Hablo’s journey in the art world is marked with numerous accolades and awards, attesting to his exceptional talent. Notably, he received Juror’s Choice in the 1993 Art Association of the Philippines Open Art Competition (Mixed Media Category) and again in the prestigious Philippine Art Awards in 2005. His triumphs continued with a Third Prize in the 2000 Metrobank Young Painters Annual Art Competition (Oil on Canvas Category) and the honor of being named the winner of the 9th Annual Freeman Foundation Vermont Studio Center Award in Johnson, Vermont, U.S.A. for 2001-2002.
