Artist’s Spotlight
Megs Empinado
Sculptor
Starting out as a digital artist and animator, Megs Empinado worked for a number of different international studios at the beginning of his career as an artist. Despite this, he had a great drive to work with his hands and produce tangible art his entire life, which ultimately drove him to choose sculpture as a career. Megs was driven to learn new skills and advance his artistic abilities, so he decided to make the challenging shift from digital art to 3D-printed sculpture.
He spent endless hours experimenting with 3D printing technology, utilizing it to construct sophisticated sculptures that included aspects of his experience in digital art. As Megs continued to hone his craft, he focused his expertise in the use of 3D printing technology on the creation of sculptures that were both realistic and intricate. It did not take long before art collectors and admirers started taking note of Megs’ work, and before long, he had been invited to participate in a variety of group exhibitions around Metro Manila.
Today, Megs is an emerging artist in the local art scene, and the demand for his 3D-printed sculptures is growing among collectors. His 3D-printed sculptures demonstrate a level of realism that is rarely seen in the art world. This attention to detail and ability to bring his creations to life has earned him a reputation as one of the most talented emerging 3D-printing artists. Megs’ one-of-a-kind “Wormhole Punk” style creates art that is at once edgy and otherworldly as a result of its combination of aspects of punk culture and the concept of wormholes.
Megs has maintained his sincerity and commitment to his profession, in spite of the success he has achieved. Always striving to improve as an artist, he keeps pushing himself further.
