Artist’s Spotlight
Jeanette Kamphuis
Jeanette A. Randehed Kamphuis, a native of Helsingborg, Sweden, was born into a family enriched with a deep appreciation for music and artistic talent. Her early exposure to creativity and artistry paved the way for a remarkable journey that spans continents, inspiring her to become the extraordinary artist she is today.
At a young age, Jeanette’s artistic inclinations were evident. She took her first steps into the world of art at her father’s printing company, where she worked as a graphic designer. However, it was her extraordinary talent with pastels that truly shone through when, at the tender age of eight, she won her first art competition.
Her artistic journey took a pivotal turn when, at the age of ten, she started her lifelong exploration of oil painting. By the age of fifteen, her exceptional talents had already caught the eye of her teachers, resulting in an art scholarship. This scholarship propelled her to further her art education in various corners of the world, including Scandinavia, Germany, France, Italy, South Africa, and the United States.
While her extensive travels provided inspiration and artistic education, it was the Philippines that captured Jeanette’s heart. Since 2014, she has called the Philippines her home, where she feels she has finally connected with her true self.
Beyond her talents on the canvas, Jeanette is a skilled violinist and pianist, adding an extra layer of depth to her artistic persona. Her multifaceted talents were recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious “Respect – Noble Queen of the Universe” Pageant, where she was honored as the “Ambassador Queen of the Environment” in representation of Sweden. In January 2020, she was bestowed with the title of “FORBES Outstanding Woman International Artist.” Further accolades followed, such as the “Advocate Queen of the Universe” in December 2021 and the title of “Outstanding International Contemporary Artist” for her exhibition, “Abstract Transformations,” at the National Museum of Fine Arts in the Philippines in April 2023.
These accolades have only fueled Jeanette’s drive to continue refining and perfecting her craft. Her early works were influenced by the explosively elaborate and colorful skies, landscapes, and seascapes of South Sweden, reflecting her deep emotional connection to her surroundings. Her art is a reflection of her experiences with people, dreams, and her boundless imagination. Notably, the Skagen Painters of Denmark, including Koyer and Michael Ancher, have had a profound influence on her artistic journey.
In the Philippines, Jeanette draws inspiration from revered Filipino artists such as Olazo, BenCab, Aguilar Alcuaz, and Ang Kiukok, who continue to shape her artistic vision.
Jeanette’s art has found a global audience and can be admired in countries including Sweden, Italy, Austria, Germany, Japan, the Philippines, South Africa, Mozambique, India, and the United States. She has participated in 50 group exhibits and 8 solo exhibits in the Philippines and internationally, cementing her status as a prolific and influential artist.
With a passion that transcends borders and an artistic vision that knows no bounds, Jeanette A. Randehed Kamphuis continues to inspire and captivate art enthusiasts across the world with her timeless creations.
