Imahica Art presents “The Art of SHE” : Diverse Expressions of Womanhood

The Art of SHE

Imahica Art is excited to present “The Art of She,” an exhibit that celebrates the diverse and powerful expressions of women in art. The phrase “I paint my own reality” by Frida Kahlo, when she was labeled a surrealist, serves as a guiding sentiment for this exhibition. Kahlo, along with other women artists like Pacita Abad, Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Paula Rego, and herself, is known for creating deeply personal works that reflect their individual life stories. These artists often draw from their own experiences, transforming emotions, memories, and intimate moments into powerful visual expressions.

Art as a Reflection of Women’s Emotions

From the joyful bond of a mother and child to the intense pain of childbirth and the overwhelming sorrow of losing a child, these artists channel the full emotional spectrum of a woman’s life through their work. Their art serves as an outlet for both personal struggles and triumphs, translating private experiences into universal, resonant messages. In doing so, they create deeply relatable and transformative pieces that allow viewers to connect with the complexities of womanhood.

Women’s Narratives

The exhibit, held in March for International Women’s Month, continues the tradition of using art to tell personal and powerful stories. While not every artwork in the exhibit is strictly biographical, each piece showcases the distinct narratives and perspectives of its creator. This exhibit not only honors women as exceptional artists but also highlights their accomplishments in various professional fields, such as architecture, literature, linguistics, jewelry design, business, and academia.

Celebrating Womanhood

The exhibit features a wide range of artistic expressions, including graceful metal sculptures that symbolize both strength and beauty, delicate floral watercolors, and surrealist paintings that challenge conventional narratives. Each piece represents the multifaceted nature of womanhood, exploring themes that range from profound and serious to playful and fierce. Together, they form a dynamic collection that celebrates the complexity and diversity of women’s experiences.

Participating artists include: Anna Nga Koks-Dinh, Cling Vega, Flor Baradi, Gean Sollestre, Jade Fulgar, Joyce Britanico, Karla Maria Fabon, Kathleen Sareena Dagum, Lea Dacula, Lea Zoraina Lim, Monica Manahan, Muf Roxas, Nova Lucernas, Roves Solar, and Vanessa Tan Gana.
