Imahica Art presents “Neon Dreams: Through the Prism” — A Journey through Creativity and self-expression

Neon Dreams: Through the Prism

In a vibrant tribute to the spirit of Pop Art, Imahica Art Gallery is set to intrigue audiences with its 2nd Pop Art exhibition, from July 13-30, 2024. This eagerly anticipated event promises to immerse audiences in bold colors, colorful imagery, and societal reflections of Unique Filipino Artists, who come together as one, to captivate the audience with colorful, dreamy, and vibrant Artworks that highlight the modern views of Filipino People.

Blurring the boundaries between fine art and mass culture

Art traditionally involves creating works valued for their aesthetic and intellectual properties made specifically for a selective audience. Mass culture on the other hand refers to cultural products mostly made on a large scale, often targeting a bigger audience. However, the relationship between art has evolved significantly, particularly with the rise of Pop art in the mid-20th century. Pop art obscured the line between fine art and mass culture, by incorporating elements of mass culture into fine art, challenging the hierarchy between high and low culture. This integration continues to influence contemporary art, where artists continue to get inspiration from the mass culture phenomena

“Neon Dreams” — Capturing the pulse of modern Filipino society

Pop Art is about grasping the prevailing concerns, aspirations, and challenges that shape public discourse in society through bold colors, repetitive strokes, and a heavy dose of irony and wit. Using everyday and common objects found around us, the artist expresses ideas and emotions through careful manipulation of these mediums to relay their thoughts and processes to the audience.
