Be Water

09 June 2024 - 23 June 2024
Be Water Exhibit

In his fifth solo exhibition, Chino Yulo invites us to immerse ourselves in the transformative philosophy of Bruce Lee’s “Be Water.” This concept, rooted in adaptability and resilience, posits that one should be as fluid and responsive as water, able to easily flow around obstacles and embrace change.

The principle teaches us that there is an inherent power in tenacity and perseverance, capable of flowing smoothly or crashing powerfully and adapting to any circumstance in life.

In this exhibition, Yulo presents his acclaimed TAN-AW, ALON, and LUKOT series, presented through innovative mediums capturing the essence and the dynamic, ever-changing nature of water. Each piece is a testament to the fluidity and strength inherent in water, mirroring Lee’s metaphor of water’s ability to flow and crash, take shape, and adapt seamlessly to its environment. His works portray water’s ability to morph, confirm, and persist, reflecting its physical beauty and profound symbolism.

“Be Water” not only highlights the visual and tactile qualities of water but also delves into its philosophical significance. Yulo’s art invites us to embrace the strength found in flexibility, the elegance of adaptation, and the peace that comes with accepting change. By intertwining the elemental with the metaphorical, Yulo offers a rich and contemplative experience, encouraging us to navigate life’s ebb and flow with resilience and grace inviting us to reflect on how we can embody these qualities in our lives.
