Rowel ‘Romac’ Macapagong
Rowel “Romac” Macapagong, hailing from Malabon and currently residing in Caloocan, is an artist whose journey through the world of art is both inspiring and remarkable. As a self-taught artist with a background in advertising, Rowel’s path has taken him from the world of carpentry, where he gained valuable skills in crafting canvases and frames, to the vibrant realms of mural painting and animation. What sets him apart is his versatility in working with various mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic.
Despite facing financial challenges as a child of a fisherman, Rowel’s determination led him to excel academically and follow his passion for art. His artistic style is marked by a blend of impressionism, naturalism, and abstract expressions. Rowel’s dedication to his craft goes beyond a mere career; it is a channel through which he communicates the beauty of nature to others. In 2003, he shifted his focus to painting, participating in plein air painting groups, group exhibitions, workshops, and competitions. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of a resident artist at Puno Art Gallery and is an exclusive member of the Art Association of Novaliches, sharing his creative journey with fellow talented artists.
Rowel holds a profound belief that “every color has no boundaries.” This philosophy reflects his commitment to breaking artistic barriers and embracing the limitless possibilities of color and expression. Through his remarkable artistry, Romac demonstrates that passion, hard work, and dedication can transform one’s life and enable them to create meaningful connections through the medium of art.
