Vanessa Tan Gana

Vanessa J. Tan Gana studied Architecture and Art History at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, which laid the foundation for her dual interests in design and art. As a freelance architectural designer, she created residential, commercial, and religious structures while nurturing her passion for art appreciation through museum visits in the Philippines and abroad. Her background in art history deepened her understanding of art’s role in society, inspiring her to participate in local exhibitions and art talks. She began writing about art in 2003 when she contributed to Art Quarterly Manila and has since become a regular contributor to Filipino Artists Magazine and Southeast Asian Artists Magazine. In 2020, she co-authored the coffee table book Contemporary Art by Asian Artists, showcasing her dedication to celebrating the arts.
