Seth Corda
As an artist with a background in architecture, Seth Corda’s works are undoubtedly contemporary. Incorporating what he knows on structure, nature, and order, Seth’s paintings often consist of figurative and/or architectural elements reinterpreted as abstract shapes that are then filled in with a pattern of small, sharp palette knife strokes, most often in Gold. The result is paradoxical: an abstract rendition derived from concrete, and precise strokes. It is this very paradox that Seth’s works seek to evoke: flow and freedom against the composed order.
His works have continuously brought him recognition and multiple accolades. In 2019, his painting, “Abyss” was a semi-finalist in the Metrobank Arts and Design Excellence program. In 2020, his work “Yamang Lahi” won the Juror’s Choice Award in the Tarlac National Painting Competition and within the same year, his work “Muling Pagsibol” was a Finalist for the MBSketchfest. In 2021, he won 3rd Place in the Pakalog National Painting Competition for his work “Alab ng Puso: Noon, Ngayon at Bukas.”
