Romac
Rowel “Romac” Macapagong (b. 1964) is a Malabon-born artist currently making his creative mark in Caloocan. With a background in advertising and a self-taught approach to art, Romac’s path meandered from carpentry, where he honed his canvas and frame crafting skills, to the dynamic realms of mural painting and animation. His artistic prowess shines through his versatility, as he seamlessly wields various mediums like oil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic.
Growing up as the child of a fisherman, Romac faced financial hurdles but overcame them through unwavering dedication to his academic pursuits and his deep love for art. His distinctive style marries elements of impressionism, naturalism, and abstract expressions, creating captivating and emotionally charged works of art. Romac’s artistry isn’t just a career; it’s a conduit through which he shares the enchanting beauty of nature with the world. Since transitioning to painting in 2003, he has actively engaged in plein air painting groups, group exhibitions, workshops, and competitions. Currently, he holds the prestigious title of a resident artist at Puno Art Gallery and is an exclusive member of the Art Association of Novaliches, where he continues to inspire and collaborate with fellow gifted artists. Romac’s philosophy that “every color has no boundaries” underscores his commitment to pushing artistic boundaries and exploring the boundless possibilities of color and expression.
