Noëll EL Farol

New Media Artist

Noëll EL Farol is an innovative new media artist engaged in a diverse array of artistic mediums, employing inventive processes and curious methodologies. His artistic identity is deeply influenced by the primal nature of materials such as glass, printmaking, pulp/paper, and other unexplored substances. Noëll actively advocates for a distinctive exploration of relationships with both familiar and unfamiliar materials, delving into the processes that have shaped human existence.

Proficient in working both independently and collaboratively, Noëll’s experimental artistry spans various practices, offering a multifaceted perspective. His exploration of the spatialization of narrative is a nuanced approach that captures subtle details, treating fingerprints as reliable stamps of identity and personality. His drawings and printworks challenge conventional notions of unique artworks, blurring the boundaries between printmaking, sculpture, drawing, and installation as a counterpoint to prevailing artistic trends.

Noëll has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Metrobank Foundation Prize for Achievement in Sculpture (2009), Award for Continuing Excellence and Service by Metrobank Foundation (2004), Best Entry Award in Metrobank’s Young Painters Annual (1986), Grand Prize in Printmaking Category of Art Association of the Philippines (1987), Top 5 Awardees, Philippine Association of Printmaking (1987), among others. He has received residency grants, participated in international sculpture symposiums, and created permanent public large-scale stone sculptures in various global locations. Currently, Noëll serves as a member of the Committee on Visual Arts at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), representing southern Luzon.
