Lorna Israel

Lorna Q. Israel holds the position of assistant professor and serves as the Graduate Program coordinator in the Department of International Studies at the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education in Miriam College. To Lorna, painting serves as a method to fill space. Typically, the occupants of this space include shapes, forms, colors, and textures; however, she opts to keep the space open, allowing it to become visible to the unseen occupant—the viewer. In her words, “When the space is completely occupied, it would clog up the viewer’s eyes. It diminishes the space for the eye to inhabit the painting.”
