Jonet Carpio
Jonet Carpio is a visual artist who completed his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising at the University of the East. During his time at the College of Fine Arts, he founded the Bukod Sining organization. His inspiration stems from his grandfather, who, in his childhood, frequently drew birds, fostering a shared love for art. According to Jonet, photography is also a form of art for him, providing inspiration and design patterns that he incorporates into his artworks.
The themes of Jonet’s artworks carry profound meanings, often focusing on the preservation of wildlife, the environment, and culture. One of his pieces reflects a childhood memory associated with a house that used to evoke a sense of horror as he passed by it. With no other houses nearby, he appreciates the structure and aims to preserve the memory through his artwork, anticipating changes or potential demolition.
Jonet views his artistic pursuit as a passion, not a response to change. Despite any challenges, he is committed to his craft. He remains unafraid, finding joy and fulfillment in the creative process. In his perspective, as long as creativity flows, there is potential for financial success in the arts field. Jonet emphasizes the importance of staying true to one’s originality, prioritizing passion over immediate income, and believing that success in the art world will naturally follow.
