Aner Sebastian
Born in December 1964, Aner Sebastian was raised in Sta. Mesa, Manila as a part of six siblings. Out of his six siblings, however, he is the only one whose passions are sports and visual arts. He then took advantage of his talents to work his way through college with athletic scholarships. He was also able to financially support himself and his studies with the income he got with art projects.
As a result, Sebastian gained his Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Painting degree from Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST). He began a serious career path in painting after a series of successful engagements in different art competitions from the 1980s, late 1990s, to early 2000s. After a number of triumphs in art competitions and momentous group exhibits abroad such as Europe, US, Canada, and Asia, he eventually earned the courage to seriously pursue art-making.
In 2005, Sebastian had his first one-man show, to which its success resulted in several follow-up solo shows almost every year. Immediately after his successful 11th one man show at Joaquin Gallery at the UP Town Plaza in 2019, he is now preoccupied and looking forward for his 12th solo show this year.
Aside from working as an artist, he also became a faculty of the FEATI School of Fine Arts from 2005 to 2018, and proudly mentored several fine arts students who are also currently actively enthralled in painting.
