Luis Antonio Pastoriza

Antonio Pastoriza is a 24-year-old Cebuano visual artist with a degree on AB Psychology from the De La Salle University (DLSU), Manila.

Applying his formal education in psychology, his artworks depict how art and psychology communicate with each other, thus recognizing and marrying the cultural, political, and personal together in a visual culmination.

Informing his constantly evolving art practice means a continuous research into psychological processes and contemporary art. With a focus on new developments and historical foundations of both fields, his work is varied and inter-textual. Through his mixed media collage paintings, he uses the process of manipulating various texts and images into a therapeutic catharsis. Repetitive mark-making, as a technique, is an account of the subtle variations in human action.

At DLSU, Antonio was an Art Staffer for the Malate Literary Folio where his artworks have been published and awarded. He has also been a part of various group exhibitions with Filipino galleries and organizations. He regularly participates in art competitions and was recently a semi-finalist at the Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) in 2019.

Currently, Antonio focuses on developing his artistic practice through regular participation in exhibitions, competitions, and other projects throughout the local art community along with the goal of pursuing art therapy.
