Cris Fragata
Visual Artist
CRIS FRAGATA GOMEZ never dreamed that she would become an artist. But the beauty of life and having a loving family makes her embrace the enchantment of art. Her artworks speak about herself. She is a multi-disciplinary artist who is always full of enthusiasts to do her craft while her family is her inspiration. With the guidance of her supportive spouse Harold Gomez, a well-known Bicolano Visual Artist through several surreal works, Cris found a deeper sense of fulfillment in painting and extended her skills to other crafts such as sculptures. Following her own pace, her paintings reflect the woman that has come to full maturity as an artist and a person. With oil and acrylic on hand, she creates the undulating asymmetrical line, often taking the form of flower stalks and buds, vine tendrils, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects; the line may be elegant and graceful or infused with powerfully rhythmic and whip-like force, which were the characteristics of an Art Nouveau. This became her identity in her various paintings, nevertheless, this was not only the “star” of her artworks. The oldest animal living in the world, turtles, is also vivid in her sculptures representing persistence, endurance, and longevity. At times, she almost succumbs to pressures, yet her never-ending source spring of reserves is to fulfill the many tasks expected as an artist, a wife, and a mother.
