Artist’s Spotlight

Antonio Daroy

Antonio Daroy’s work is a vivid exploration of memory, emotion, and imagination, rendered through color-rich compositions that blur the lines between dream and reality. Whether depicting figures, landscapes, or abstract forms, his paintings feel like visual echoes—fragments of stories told in the language of brushstrokes and pattern. Each piece invites the viewer to take part in a journey, not just through imagery, but through feeling and reflection.

Daroy’s artistic path has always been driven by instinct and defiance of convention. One early moment, when he submitted a painted table leg to a student exhibit, captured this spirit perfectly. Though dismissed at the time, the act reflected a deep-rooted belief in creativity beyond formality. Since then, his career has spanned continents and decades, but his art has remained anchored in personal memory and a desire to awaken imagination. Now based in Nevada, he continues to paint full-time, bringing a lifetime of experience and cultural grounding to every canvas.

In the early 1970s, Daroy helped form the artist collective 4Sight, alongside Alfredo Liongoren, Nestor Vinluan, and Norberto Carating. Together, they challenged traditional modes of Filipino visual art, offering instead works that were introspective, experimental, and boundary-breaking. Their reunion decades later was a reminder that meaningful art evolves, but never loses its roots. Daroy’s journey through color and memory continues, each new work a step deeper into his singular vision.
