Maica Borlagdan
Maica Borlagdan, born in 2000, is a talented visual artist originating from the province of Bulacan. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, with a degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting, Maica’s artistic journey is marked by a spirit of exploration. Her creative process is characterized by spontaneity, often yielding works through experimentation and learning from mistakes.
Her recent artistic endeavors delve into the plasticity of organic forms and abstract concepts rooted in realism. By shifting her focus from the intricacies of the mind, she channels her experiences into tangible works of art.
Since 2019, Maica has actively showcased her creations in over 8 group exhibitions. Her artistic accolades include being a semi-finalist in the 2019 Metrobank MADE Painting competition, a finalist in the 2019 Shell National Students Art Competition, and a shortlistee in the 2019 Philippine Art Awards. Notably, she clinched the 1st place in the sculpture category of the 2021 Shell National Students Art Competition and received another finalist recognition in 2022.
