Rey Velasco Operio, known as “RV Operio,” hails from the vibrant region of Mindanao and is a true testament to the power of following one’s passion. Although born in the picturesque province of Iloilo, it was during his secondary education in Mindanao that Rey’s deep love for art blossomed. His educational journey brought him back to his roots at the University of St. Augustine in Iloilo City, where he pursued a degree in Architecture, laying the foundation for his artistic destiny.
In the early 1990s, driven by dreams and aspirations, Rey made a pivotal move to the bustling metropolis of Manila. His motivation was clear: to seek better opportunities and nurture his artistic talent. For nearly two decades, Rey Operio thrived as a self-employed Portrait and Visual Artist, enchanting the halls of various shopping centers across Metro Manila with his creative expressions. Today, Rey proudly holds the esteemed title of an in-house artist at the renowned Fil Arts Gallery, a testament to his artistic prowess and the recognition he has earned within the art community. He continues to ardently advocate for the exploration of his passion, eagerly participating in exhibitions to share his creative vision with the world.
