Artist’s Spotlight

Roy Espinosa

Visual Artist

“For me, art is something that shows not only beauty, but it is also a perfect  tool to enhance one’s sensibility and intelligence. Each artwork is a story, a narrative that can bring into the fore the essence of things both ordinary and extraordinary. Furthermore, the artist’s works are but the extension of his heart and soul.”

Roy Espinosa

Roy Espinosa is a multifaceted creative force, known for his dynamic roles as a visual artist, arts and culture advocate, publisher, art show organizer, and art curator. As the visionary founder of The Filipinas Institute for the Advancement of Arts and Culture (FILARTS), he has adeptly embraced these roles to champion the cause of Philippine arts and culture. Through FILARTS, a non-stock, non-profit organization, Roy Espinosa has dedicated himself to elevating Filipino artists, ensuring they receive the recognition and global exposure they truly deserve. His unwavering commitment to nurturing and showcasing the rich tapestry of Filipino creativity has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape, bridging local talents with the international stage.

Emerging from an artistic hiatus in 2015, Roy Espinosa reinvigorated the Philippine art scene through the Filipino Artists Magazine, providing a platform for both emerging talents and established masters to express their artistic and nationalistic convictions. His ability to connect with the right people at the right time breathed new life into the local art scene, resulting in a flurry of invitations to local and international exhibitions and events, all fueled by his unwavering dedication to FILARTS. Roy’s remarkable contributions to the advancement of Filipino creativity have earned him accolades from various institutions, including the Art Ambassador honor from ASWARA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and his appointment as the Philippines’ country president for the prestigious International Art Acts organization. He has also served as a judge on the Global Artists Committee of the Asian Art Association in Singapore.

Central to Roy’s art advocacy is his commitment to showcasing the excellence of Filipino artists in their respective fields, achieved through the publication of several art books celebrating their talents. His latest endeavor, “Southeast Asian Artists Magazine,” serves as a bridge between the Philippines and neighboring countries, fostering a collaborative exploration of their unique arts and cultures. Furthermore, he has been featured in two international art books, “Chengdu Modern Landscape Oil Painting Institute” in China and “The Bridge” in Malaysia, cementing his status as a global advocate for Filipino creativity and cultural exchange.
