Pandy Aviado
Virgilio “Pandy” Aviado (b. 1944) is a celebrated Filipino artist known for his mastery of printmaking. Recognized as one of the top ten printmakers globally, Aviado has worked alongside esteemed artists such as Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Cesar Legaspi, Fernando Zobel, and Jose Joya. His passion for printmaking extends beyond traditional techniques, as he actively promotes new methods to make the art form more accessible to emerging artists. Aviado’s artistic journey began under the guidance of Araceli Dans and Manuel Rodriguez, Sr., and he continued his studies at the University of Sto. Tomas and the Philippine Women’s University. As a founding member of the Ateneo Art Gallery Arts Club, Aviado has played a vital role in supporting the growth of the arts in the Philippines. His exceptional talent and dedication have earned him numerous exhibitions, awards, and accolades both locally and internationally. Aviado’s artistic pursuits extend beyond printmaking to encompass paintings, drawings, and mixed media works, showcasing his versatility and creative vision.
